Event Highlights
As a leader, it's up to each of us to curate our success with intentional learning, engagement, and relationship building. This discussion identifies authentic leadership styles by aligning actions with core values. Participants will explore strategies for setting intentional learning goals that not only enhance their leadership skills but also reflect who the truly are.

About Kyla Brown
Kyla Brown is the Parks Director/General Manager for the Riverside County Regional Park & Open-Space District (RivCoParks). She initially joined the RivCoParks team in 2010 and has been working in public service for over 30 years. In her role as General Manager, Kyla provides service to a diverse population of 2.5 million county residents. She oversees a wide range of functions managing over 120,000 acres of land, 7 regional parks, 7 open-space reserves, 7 nature and historic sites, and over 180 miles of trails. Kyla is passionate about parks, open-space and the outdoors and believes strongly in the positive impact those spaces have on physical and mental health.
Kyla is a Certified Park and Recreation Executive, as well as a Credentialed California County Senior Executive. A native to the Inland Empire, she has her Bachelor of Arts in Human Services from California State University, San Bernardino, and Master of Public Administration from California Baptist University.
Kyla is currently serving as the President for the California Park and Recreation Society and is a Director on the board for the National Association of County Park and Recreation Officials.
Kyla is an outdoor enthusiast and enjoys camping, hiking, reading, and spending quality time with her family.

Dr. Claudia Valdez serves as Administrative Services Manager in Academic Affairs at California Baptist University. With over 10 years of retail leadership experience, including roles at Target, Best Buy, and Bank of America, and a strong higher education foundation, Dr. Valdez brings a unique blend of practical business expertise and a passion for student success. Dr. Valdez has been a guest speaker on "The Importance of Knowing Your WHY," Event Planning, and Living out Your Values.
Holding a Bachelor's degree in Business Administration from California State University, San Bernardino (CSUSB), a Master's degree in Higher Education: Leadership and Student Development, and a Doctorate in Organizational Change and Administration from California Baptist University (CBU), Dr. Valdez is deeply committed to continuous learning and personal development.
As a passionate advocate for leadership, mentorship, and community engagement, Dr. Valdez draws motivation from a deep sense of faith, her son and family, and her dedication to making a positive impact. Her journey is also fueled by unwavering perseverance, allowing her to overcome challenges and stay focused on her goals. In addition to professional accomplishments, Dr. Valdez enjoys missionary work, the outdoors, running, and traveling.
As a dedicated servant leader, Dr. Valdez's work extends beyond the classroom and professional environments. Her involvement with the Pick Group reflects her commitment to fostering growth and development within her community. Since joining the group in 2022, Dr. Valdez has taken on several leadership roles, including Board Member at Large, Professional Development Chair, Vice President, and Impact Awards Chair. Join Our Holiday Toy Drive!
This holiday season let's spread joy and make a difference in the lives of children through our Holiday Toy Drive for Big Brothers Big Sisters of Orange County & The Inland Empire. We invite you to bring a smile to a child's face by donating a new, unwrapped toy. We will be collecting toys in-person on December 3rd, so come by and drop off your donation!
